Ka the Equalist

I’m starting this thing where I’m going to draw and write separate posts for all my headcanons for every ship/character I was thinking about last night. Because I have feelings.

Here’s my Boroh post~

Uh first off don’t ask me what their hands are doing, I don’t know how to draw people holding hands.

Yeah this will never happen ever because everyone in Avatar/LoK is painfully heterosexual, but if they were cool I think it could work out. I think it’s dumb how Mako is the only character Bolin has a real dynamic with, but then of course even that gets shafted to make space for Makorra. Man I swear, Mako embodies everything I hate about LoK. Bolin did have something going on with Korra until after that relationships episode he literally just became that guy who makes funny/out of place comments.

I suppose there wasn’t any better way to characterize Bolin though because everything got super intense and serious and anything Bolin would do really would just come out of place. So hopefully the next season rather than doing the overlord villain thing again, they opt for a more…sparse threat? Ranging from former Equalists to bending gangs, but no central force of “evil”. With a more “chill” atmosphere (not really, but not super intense like LoK season 1) characters like Bolin can be fleshed out.

And so begins my fanfic (okay these aren’t real fanfics because I can’t write, they’re like thoughts/headcanons).

Korra is busy reviving the bending to those who lost it and Mako just hangs around Korra because there is no point to his existence otherwise. Asami, with her dad problem, decides to take up the task of dealing with the Equalists/Equalist supporters (my Asami post has more info). Tenzin is busy with his family reunion (will write about this stuff later). Basically Bolin is alone with Pabu and Naga.

And maybe Iroh.

Iroh’s probably going to have to leave soon now that the threat of Amon is gone, but feels somewhat guilty about his shortfalls in the mission as he notices the ever growing tension still present in the city. It pains him even more to think about how Aang devoted his life to making Republic City a place where benders of every type and nonbenders can coexist in peace. Without Aang, who is to say the city can survive another attack like Amon’s?

So Iroh sticks around and tries to help people. But because of his innate awkwardness (come on man you’re related to Zuko) and general sense of not knowing anything about Republic City, he probably just screws things up more. Then a bored and curious Bolin who likes Iroh’s confidence (and is also secretly glad he has the upper hand in this situation) comes to help Iroh in his endeavors. And the cool thing about all of this is that Bolin can finally be someone’s equal as opposed to his relationships with Mako and Korra (Mako is like his mom and Bolin idol worships Korra more than anything).

And so Iroh and Bolin help rebuild the city/people with crappy lives

And then create an Asian night market because those things are fucking awesome

And then they go on a date at the night market

And then Mako thinks Bolin has mommy issues because he’s hanging out with another male firebender (okay jk but mommy Mako is the best Mako).
